Privacy Policy
Who we are
ShareTech SA ("ShareTech", "we", "us") provides internet, VoIP, solar, CCTV, managed print and IT services from Milnerton, Cape Town, South Africa. ShareTech SA is the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy, as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
This policy covers the ShareTech Dev application and the systems it connects to, including our WhatsApp Business channels (087 077 0323 and 071 731 0050), our support email addresses and our internal case management system, ShareTech Core.
What we collect
When you contact us or we contact you, we may collect the following.
- Your name, phone number, WhatsApp profile name and email address
- The content of the messages you send us, including text, images, documents, voice notes and other attachments
- Message metadata such as timestamps, delivery and read status, and message identifiers supplied by WhatsApp
- Details you give us about your account, site, services or equipment so we can help you
- Records of the support cases we open, the actions our team takes and the replies we send
We do not collect information from your contacts, your other chats or your device.
Why we use it
We use your information to respond to your enquiries, open and resolve support cases, provide and manage the services you have with us, send you service messages you have asked for or that relate to your account, and keep records we are required to keep. We process it because it is needed to perform our contract with you, because it is in our legitimate interest to support our customers properly, or because you have consented.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
Your information is processed by service providers that help us run our systems, under agreements that require them to protect it.
- Meta Platforms, which operates WhatsApp and the WhatsApp Business Platform
- Google, which hosts our email
- Base44, which hosts ShareTech Core
- Cloudflare, which hosts our web pages
Some of these providers store information outside South Africa. Where that happens we rely on the provider's contractual and legal safeguards, as POPIA section 72 permits. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep support records for as long as you are a customer and for up to five years afterwards, unless the law requires a longer period. Messages that are not linked to a customer account are deleted after 12 months.
How we protect it
Access to ShareTech Core is limited to authorised ShareTech staff who need it for their work. Connections are encrypted, and access to our WhatsApp and email systems uses restricted service credentials.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it, or delete it, and you may object to how we process it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).
Deleting your data
To ask us to delete your information, email the address below or send "Delete my data" to us on WhatsApp. We will confirm your identity, delete the information we are not legally required to keep, and confirm the outcome within 30 days.
